[FFZE] SAfrica Says Zim Still on SADC Agenda

South Africa on Wednesday denied media reports that President Jacob Zuma is set to tell the SADC Head of States summit at the weekend that its mediation role in Zimbabwe has ended with the election victory of President Robert Mugabe.

“The presidency has noted inaccurate media reports to the effect that President Jacob Zuma is expected to tell his fellow regional leaders at a summit in Malawi this weekend that he has accomplished his mission in Zimbabwe,” the South African presidential office said. [Read more…]

Liquidity crisis: Zim needs foreign direct investment

RESERVE Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor, Gideon Gono said the country requires foreign direct investment (FDI) to solve the liquidity crisis and should not be seen as attacking the owners of capital.

“The other way we can solve the liquidity crunch faced in the country is through attracting FDI,” Gono said in Bulawayo last week. “Among ourselves, we don’t have much and we have to bring in capital from somewhere in exchange of something, whatever we get.
